Biography
Mark Earnhart was born and raised in Sterling, Colorado. Mark and his wife, Cathy, have two grown children, Ben and Ali. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Denver, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver, College of Law. He is a Fellow in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Earnhart is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the 13th Judicial District Bar Association, and the Logan County Bar Association. He served as president of the 13th Judicial District Bar Association in 2001-2002, and served as vice president in 2000-2001. He has served as president of the Logan County Bar Association since 1997. Mr. Earnhart is also a Certified Public Accountant, and is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Mark has been a part-time professor at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. He also continues to serve Northeastern Colorado as the Title III Legal Services attorney for Logan, Morgan, Washington, Phillips, Sedgwick and Yuma counties, Colorado, a position he has held since 1993. Mark has served as editor for a number of books authored by Hilton Sutton, Th.D.
Mark was appointed by Governor Owens to the 13th Judicial District Nominating Commission in 1998, and continued to remain an active member of that Commission through the expiration of his 6-year term in 2004. During that time, he and the other members of the Commission assisted the governor in selecting 5 District Court and County Court judges to serve the 13th Judicial District, the largest judicial district in the State of Colorado.
Mark serves as a board member or legal liaison to numerous charitable and not-for-profit entities in Colorado and Texas. He is a frequent lecturer and author of articles regarding elder law topics, and income, estate and gift tax issues, as well as probate, trusts, and estate planning.
